After leaving the Chumbi Mountain Retreat we could stay at this hotel for one night only. Basically a palace after the last place.
Arrival
All taken care of by Mr Shu and while we waited we chatted with the Australian husband of the owner/manager in the very colonial lounge area. The place looked clean and a much friendlier atmosphere, just a pity we did not book this one from the start.
Room
A decent sized traditionally furnished suite overlooking the gardens with a living room, dining area and separate bedroom, the view would be spectacular if and when the clouds lifted, unfortunately they didn't! The bathroom was tiny with shower over the bath but at least clean.

Dining
All meals were Indian buffet style, I managed a few normal things for breakfast and then rice for the other meal as I could not distinguish what each dish was but Jon enjoyed food good.
We did attempt an afternoon tea in the covered veranda…very good tea but a couple of pieces of dry fruit cake and some biscuits were the other offerings
Service
Helpful and friendly.
Amenities
None except the gardens.
Restaurants / Bar
The Magnolia Dining Room- european and asian cuisine for breakfast plus lunch and dinner
The Gazebo at the Garden - snacks and drinks
The Tea Lounge & Oak Bar - tea and drinks
Conclusion
Certainly the best choice in Pelling but do not expect luxury. The food for me was not that good but it may be that they put on the indian buffets at this time of year for the local indian tourists.
