Arrival
Located on the eastern side of the Nile, this is a much busier and bigger hotel than the other Four Seasons.
Ahmed No 1 did the check in for us while we waited in the large busy reception area where you can smoke….no welcome drink nor anything waiting in the room. The process took some time, they were confusing with the credit card swipe and eventually the Ahmed came back and handed us the key….and where do we go? Asked to be shown to the room and got a personable young man who didn’t really know much. Jon wanted to go on an ATV ride at the back of the pyramids and asked if they could arrange…but no joy so booked with Memphis later.
Room
We got exactly what we paid for, a luxury room with large balcony overlooking the Nile, traditionally furnished, spotlessly clean and extremely comfortable with a large bathroom with separate shower, bath, two sinks and separate toilet.

First Residence Room Facilities
- Toiletries by L’Occitane
- Tea and coffee machine provided plus plenty of drinking water.
- Daily Fruit
- International TV Channels
- Hairdryer
- Dressing gowns and slippers
- Plenty of Hangers
- Safe

Dining
We again had room service the first evening, very good and large portions.
Breakfast selection is excellent and there is a smoking section. Our Eggs Benedict rated a 7/10.
For our last night in Cairo we booked a table at the 8 Chinese Restaurant where we had a superb meal with top class service and views over the Nile, highly recommended. Smoking section available.
Amenities
The pool area looked good but we went at night to just check it out and they had live music on and it was extremely busy…looked fun though.
There is shopping mall attached and this one has a much better selection of goods….just.
Spa and adult indoor pool.
Fitness centre overlooking the Nile
Shopping Arcade inside the hotel.
Restaurants / Bar
Bella - Italian
Zitouni - arabic
8 - chinese - highly recommended
Pool Grill - all day casual dining
Beymen Cafe - life modern cuisine
The Bar - nightly live music
Lobby Lounge - afternoon tea and cocktails
Upper Deck Lounge - tapas and cocktails
Conclusion
You do get a different impression of Cairo from this hotel, the city looks more cosmopolitan with party boats going up and down the Nile until the early hours of the morning, luckily you cannot hear this in the room. I would have no hesitation about staying here again but it is more impersonal than the First Residence due to size.
TIP - if you are leaving early in the morning then order a Breakfast box the night before. You get one each filled with yoghurt, juice, pastries, fruit, jam and butter, this was a godsend in Luxor!
